Hey,

I got quite a bunch of mesozooplankton samples and want to analyse them for length-frequency distributions. I decided to build a ZooScan and bought a 4800dpi Canon Scanner. The picture quality is great, however if the object to be scanned is not placed DIRECTLY onto the scanner bed (e.g. in petri-dish or on glass), it loses a lot of its quality/details. Has anyone else tried to build a ZooScan from scratch? And if so, how did you solve this problem?

Cheers,
Sari
